Science Fair

I've never blogged this much before ... It's probably due to a combination of the Lenten retreat and the conference. My mind is full and I'm thankful to have a few people with whom I can discuss these things. I should channel some of this energy into my book as well.

My daughter has not been well this week (nothing specific) so I'm keeping her home. Of course, she's not resting much, but playing and reading and in general having a good time with all our pets. I thought I'd share her experiments with our dog, given that the science fair is coming up in a month.

Last year, my daughter tried to figure out whether it's more efficient to brush the dog with a comb or brush.

This year she's testing what kind of food the dog likes best. Seems she likes everything except lettuce. This is just the beginning ... I wonder what else she will find out. I'm just glad she's not trying to figure out how to harness static electricity generated by cats ...

Here's a hilarious video on An Engineer's Guide to Cats.

Enjoy.

Hi Vijaya,

I love your daughter's spirit, and how methodical she is. That's recipe for success. She commands admiration! :)

She must take after her mama! Our dog LOVES oranges and will beg when you start to eat on.

Nathalie, she is very conscientious. It's always fun to do a project with her.

Bish, she does (both good and bad)! That's funny your dog loves oranges. I've not tried that with ours. She loves bananas, and she's eaten blueberries off the bushes, but she's a meat and potatoes doggy.

Like scientist mother, like scientist daughter? :)

Marcia, she's a lot like me ... it's good because I understand her, but boy do we butt heads as well.

Love the pic of her, the dog and the 3 food dishes. It looks like a well controlled experiment!

Thanks, Rachel. But we found our hypothesis was wrong :) But we discovered something else. Must repeat. Thank goodness the weekend's almost here.

What a cutie, and how sweet that she is doing this! The comb gets my vote: I know for a fact that it rakes out more hair than a brush, but don't tell your daughter!

And I love those engineers and their cat experiments. Corporal cuddling is a great way to reprimand a cat.

Mary, the comb did win out for her, but not for me. She discovered another variable.

"Corporal cuddling" cracked me up. Both my kitties are talkers and after watching this video, we could get them to yodel (which they didn't like).

Such sweet pics! I haven't been blogging as much lately, but I'm glad you've got the blogging bug! :)

I'm enjoying all these posts. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks, Donna. And just as quickly as I got the bug, it's gone.
