Cautionary Tales?

Alas, I don't have a happy ending to the story unfolding in our backyard. The baby bird fell out of the nest and died. It was such a cutie, too, opening its mouth wide to be fed. I saw Mama making over a dozen trips in just one hour to feed it. I wonder whether the baby got too greedy, or was simply fidgeting.

I suppose we could come up with a cautionary tale about all this, right? PB, anyone.

That just makes me sad. *sigh* I haven't been doing a lot of blogging lately, so forgive me for visiting much. But as always, your blogs is one of my faves!

Oh no! Poor baby bird. :( I tried to rescue a baby bird that I found once. I carried it around in a fanny pack for three days. But it didn't make it. Life is tough. No wonder we Americans go overboard with our safety restrictions. If he'd been strapped into his car seat, this wouldn't have happened!

Awww! I see why I've never been a fan of cautionary tales. Even Hansel and Gretel used to bother me!

Oh, dear. This reminds me of a really miniature baby bird I found in my yard as a child. Unless it was a hummingbird, I don't understand how it could have been out of the egg and be that tiny, yet have such a wide open mouth. Sadly, there was nothing to be done. It was just TOO small.

Donna, thank you. I tend to blog in spurts, so I understand.

Thanks for the tip on doing a photo-essay. I'll have to become a much better photographer ...

Amy, life is tough and tenacious. I can't believe you carried a baby bird in your pack for 3 days! Heroic. You know, I am baffled at how my Indian relatives can ignore the seatbelts and carseats -- they save lives.

Faith, I confess to really enjoying the Book of Naughty Children (minus the morals part, though my mother read to us aloud and would look directly at me during that hateful part ... and the moral of the story is ...)

Marcia, baby hummingbirds must be tiny. It would be so cool to watch a baby hummingbird get a sweet food kiss from Mama.

That is so sad. It reminds me of one of those McGuffy Readers. Those were full of the most horrifying stories!!

I haven't read the McGuffy readers, Cat. My MIL has them ... must check them out.
