Missing a Conference

Our family had planned a trip to VA, but a nasty migraine kept me at home. I missed everybody so very much, but was especially disappointed that I couldn't attend the conference held at Christendom College. My kids didn't take notes, but my husband did and it's been lovely to hear about it from them. Check out this summary. And here's an iTunes link if you want to listen to any of the talks.

I am praying to be healed. I've been in near constant pain since April. How I wish I could do more instead of lie in bed and pray. Although we like to live by the rule of St. Benedict: ora et labora, sometimes I have to remind myself what St. John Bosco said, ora est labora. It is so easy to forget that your worth does not lie in what you can do but just in the fact that you are precious to God just as you are. I was especially heartened to read this reflection on Moses' life by Msgr. Charles Pope.

Here are some beautiful photos of the Shenandoah valley and Busch Gardens. But I'm happy to have everybody at home.

If I could reach out of my computer and send my arms all the way out to your corner on the other side of the continent I'd give you a hug right now. It's just so frustrating that you have had to deal with so many migraines. We imagine ourselves so scientifically advanced and yet we still can do little for the common cold or migraines. I have a dear friend in Israel who suffers from them often.
{The photos are spectacular. I mean-- your kids! :D }

Sorry about your migraines. I have one migraine a month and I go in a room and close the doors and do not communicate for at least a day. I also have asthma and have had two months of the worst attacks of my life. I don't like when the doctors look more upset than me. I wake up almost every night scrambling for my glasses and my emergency inhaler. Being chronically ill is a challenge. I think of Fanny Crosby and Grace Noll Crowell, two gals that suffered much and yet channeled that suffering to blessing of all.

I don't know how the writing is going but a teen with migraines is a book that might connect with the folks. Just a thought

You are loved, friend. I wish we could go some place tropical by a beach and just rest for a good few months with our families running around doing their things.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face to shine upon you and give you peace. Selah.

Mirka, I can feel those hugs from miles away. And those kids are growing up much too fast.
Leandra, I had a good week, and just in time to take care of my husband, who had eye surgery.
Molly, thank you for the blessing and the good idea. I shall ruminate :)
Johnell, I hope so too. Thank you.
