Summertime Fun

We're having a lovely summer--so many beautiful feast days to celebrate: Corpus Christi, the Nativity of John the Baptist, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Saints Peter and Paul. Best of all, Max and his girlfriend came for a visit, so we've had a lovely time all together, going to the beach, a visit to Middleton Plantation (they have an oak that's a thousand years old!) and the Angel Oak (about 500 years old). So fun to be a tourist in our hometown--Max is a good tour guide too. We also ate a lot. Michael's brisket is soooo good. And we had a traditional Indian meal at home too, with mangoes and heavy cream.

Such a rich and beautiful post. If a picture is worth a thousand words, your post about June is a beautiful novel

Gorgeous photos! It's so fun to take in the sights when you have people visiting.I'm always searching out places to go nearby because I love short trips and learning about where I live. For instance, I live in a small town in Oregon, but President Hoover grew up here. His house is really interesting.

That huge tree is breathtaking! And the beach scene is so peaceful. Wish I lived near a beach.

Thank you, Jenni and Barb. We live in such a beautiful place and the live oaks with Spanish moss are things I do not take for granted. What stories that big old tree could tell.

Barb, the beach is so healing. If I'm having a migraine, I don't play in the waves but just lie in the shallows and soak up the minerals. And in the evenings it is very peaceful. We are so very blessed here.

Actually. I do live near a beach: Lake Ontario! We used to like to drive along the lakeshore when we still had a car. But I meant the ocean. :-)

Ah, at least you're near a body of water, Barb. But yes, there's something very special about the ocean, esp. the salty spray.
