St. Joan of Arc

Archangel Michael and Saint Joan of Arc, by Meltem Aktas. Pray for us.

St. Michael the archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell, Satan and all his evil spirits who prowl about the earth seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

I love the story of Saint Joan of Arc. Her faith and confidence in the Lord!!

Trine, have you ever read In Her Own Words? It's from the transcripts of her trial. She was so young and so brave and so faithful. Right up to the end. Yet, she wasn't spared fear... After 500 years, we all know about her but her tormentors are mere footnotes.

What an interesting icon! You know of my love for St. Joan. :) But I needed this reminder to turn to her again....

Oh Faith, I loved so many things about this picture--the fire, the hands, them facing one another, yet our dear saint only sees through the glass darkly. As I procrastinate/ponder my historical, she's there saying: "Courage!"
