Halloween Madness

It's begun already ... the madness. Tomorrow, the kids will come home from school all sugared up and it won't end ... until we eat it all up.

I don't even like candy but since the kids started trick-or-treating, I have discovered that I have favorites, like Almond Joy and Kit-Kat. I still prefer Cadbury chocolate bars though. When we lived in Belgium, I had a smooth and creamy Belgian chocolate every single day (and I lived there for two years). Ooooh, how I wish someone would give me that quality of chocolate.

I didn't grow up with this holiday. Instead, we celebrated All Saints/Souls Day on Nov. 1st -- a day to remember all our beloved dead.

But the kids are growing up here and enjoying this sweet tradition. They love dressing up and collecting candy. Oh, but it's madness. Truly.

I do like carved pumpkins -- this is one my husband's. Mine are too pathetic to post. I always make a cat with a tail.

Although I'm not a big fan of Halloween, I love how my kids imaginations go into overgear when they want to "dress up". I refuse to buy the costumes, so they have to make their own. *yes, I help a bit...but they do the majority of the work*

My youngest was "sleeping beauty". She put her houserobe on over her clothes, refused to brush her hair and carried her nightime teddybear. She say, "SEE? I'm sleeping beauty. You know, a beauty who was sleeping?" :)

They all turned out cute!!

Hugs,
Donna

p.s. My mother in law was born on All Saint's Day!

Going to a high school named All Saints...Nov. 1 was always a special day. But I sure did like dressing up for Halloween.

As for chocolate, Cadbury has always been a favorite of mine too!

Hey, I read When the Whistle Blows, great book!

Aww, I LOVE your black and orange Halloween cat!

I can't help loving Halloween. Even though I've pleged to go volunteer at my husband's school until nine o'clock tonight and I'm already dead on my feet, I'm a sucker for Halloween. Wish I had a Snickers bar right now...

LOL! Donna. Sleeping beauty is great. By her definition, I'm a sleeping beauty every morning :)

Yes, I love the dress up part as well. The kids make their own with my help, but I did invest in a Bengal Tiger suit that I found at the thriftstore for my daughter. It was big on her when she was three but she's had a lot of fun with it and still plays with it.

I will eat a Snickers on your behalf, Mary. As for Cadbury, I will have to treat myself, Bish.

And yes, my torty Halloween cat is a very purry one. She always greets the trick-or-treaters at the door and you should hear the Awwww! from all the kids. She's miss nosy, wanting to get into everything.
