The Keys and Hemingway's Cats

This Thanksgiving, Michael and the kids took a road trip down to the Keys. They loved it all--the beautiful drive down, petting Hemingway's cats, taking in art and auto shows in Miami, meeting friends. I wish I could be transported there, especially with a cold north wind blowing our way.

Lovely photos, Vijaya.

If you can't get down to the keys, reading Jennifer Holm's TURTLE IN PARADISE will take you there. Wonderful book, and replete with Hemingway making an appearance to boot.

Oh, I must order it right away!!! Love her historical fiction. And the good thing about Michael and the kids taking all these trips is that they suss out all the good stuff...

Great photos! I went to Hemingway's house in 1982 and was impressed by both the house--the first private house in the U.S. to have a swimming pool--and the six-toed cats. I have a poster of the house on my office wall.

I heard that the house was recently air-conditioned. I almost applied to a writing contest where the winner could live and write in the house--in July, during the Hemingway Festival.

Hmm, Turtle in Paradise sounds like my kind of book.

Thank you Carol. Still waiting for my book...

Barb! Oh, wouldn't it be wonderful to write in his house?!!! I wish you'd applied. It's funny, now that my kids are older, I no longer feel the need to go away to write. My home *is* my writing sanctuary.
